Our Pastor, David Patterson, was inducted to the Pastorate here in August 2014.
David, a native of the Portadown / Tandragee area, had attended the Church in Tandragee since his marriage to Joan in 1983 where he remained in membership and served as a deacon up until he entered the Christian ministry.
David, formerly in banking, trained at the Irish Baptist College and, following his graduation in 1994, took up a call to be the Assistant Pastor at Banbridge Baptist Church. He then pastored churches at Dundonald and Donaghadee until becoming Director of Ministry for the Protestant Truth Society in 2012. In early 2014 David received and accepted the call to the Pastorate in Tandragee.
David is married to Joan and has three grown up children: Gareth, Andrew and Judith.
On taking up the Pastoral office in Tandragee, David said,
“It is with great sense of humility and joy that I stand here as Pastor of Tandragee Baptist. It was here that I was baptised as a believer and where I grew in grace and in the knowledge of God under the ministry of the late Pastor McGilton. Here I served as deacon and treasurer and from here I was ordained to the Christian ministry. The church and people here are very dear to my heart.
I have come in the will of the Lord following a very clear confirmation from God through His Word, ‘Let the Lord, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep which have no shepherd.’ (Numbers 27:16,17)
I trust that with God’s help I might prove to be a faithful under Shepherd to the people of Tandragee and pray that God might be pleased to bless the ministry to the building up of His people and in the salvation of precious souls in Tandragee and District.”
